The Wellington Point Notice Board & Seat was designed
as part of a streetscape upgrade to the main business district
of Wellington Point. The timber work was conceptualised to
filter light as per dappled light through trees. The sandblasted
image on the noticeboard (a gerbera) references local market
gardens, in an area well known for flower production. It was
decided glass would be used for the noticeboard to reduce
the visual weight, and exclude the use of pins and tacks which
were seen as a pedestrian hazard. Noticeboard users are encouraged
to use blutak and sticky tape instead. Solar powered, warm
light Luxeon LEDs highlight the sandblasting on the noticeboard
at night.
