Fossil Seat
Project: Pathways Fossil Seats
Client: Pine Rivers Council
Completed: 2005

Materials: Steel, ironbark, cold cast bronze, concrete
Features: custom LED lighting, Seats designed to fit over large culvets

These large bench seats feature a treated concrete centre embedded with cold cast Bronze Diprotodon bones. The Diprotodon is an extinct animal which lived throughout Australia during the Pleistocene period.

The seats perform a dual task, masking large drains amd have a hand ground concrete facia. The pavers leading to each seat feature impressions of plants common to both modern times and the Pleistocene period. Each seat has 8 LED light fixtures, 4 of which were custom designed and built for this project.

Artdinouvea were commissioned to produce the Diprotodon bones.
